Project delays reported

Yes, I know what I said. But check this out. I had some old plaster kicking around. I spread it out on a 12 inch square board. I didn't worry too much about the smoothness, I am hoping the extra texture will give it some interest. Then I used a couple of simple tools to incise some interesting pattern. I can't wait for it to dry so I can start to add paint etc.

Project 17

Project 17 is not going to fun. This is the desk in my art room. Behind me looks almost as bad. I started off the year with a lovely clean space to work in but a flurry of projects and it soon gets out of hand. But it has to be done. Some artists will tell you that having a mess is all part of the creative process. I dsagee. I think having a clean space allows me some room to generate ideas. It is the execution stage that I generate a mess. But when I am "topped up" on mess I start to stall. So this week I am going to open my space and my mind.

This weeks project

Hmmm what week are we in? Oh yes this was week 16, My poject this week was to get a studio day in with another artist. Mary and I spent the whole day together , playing , messing, learning, laughing, getting to know one another ... all washed down with good amounts of Mary's delishious coffee. This is not one of the prints from this visit. This is what I created since then, this is a proof of a lino cut that I was inspired to do by Mary's lovely collection of art that she shared with me .. both hers and the work of other artist's that fills her home. Thank you Mary , I am stirring around a few ideas that sprouted from our visit. Cant to see next week's project.

Midnight oil

You know it's calving time when the lights are on in the shop at 10 and the old guy hasn't had supper yet.

Retro Diner

You may have guessed it. My playhouse design this year is a retro style diner. I have been collecting stuff for a year. And this is the thing that pushes this playhouse over the top.. I almost want to keep it myself. The playhouses are designed and built by volunteers and raffled of as a fund raiser for The society for Pregnent and Parenting Teens. April showers

This week has been very enjoyable. I have has my mom visiting. I didn't plan a project for this week but I am feeling the pressure of playhouses coming. Maybe tomorrow I will get my materials for the kitchen. The weather just just doesn't seem like lumber shopping weather

Since I began this gelaton printmaking I have wondered if I could use this process to do portraits. I knew it would be a challenge , but after several hundred prints, I felt I was ready to take it on. Here is my result.
