Plant flowers

Yesterday I brought some seeds... Lots of seeds. Expensive seeds. More than 50 cents a seed. But hopefully my petunias will grow lush and beautiful saving me $$ at the local greenhouse.
I'm starting to get excited for spring.

Spring

Today Marley spent the day with me. We did a couple of crafts. We discussed flowers and spring while we made this floral box from a recycled seed catalog and a dollar store box. Messy but fun and good practice with scissors. Shown here resting on a tall jar to keep it from sticking to the paper as it dries . I can't show you the finished box as she had to go when the box was barely dry. We did have some fun doing it. I wish I would remember to take more photos when we are in the process instead of just having fun.

Rekindled

This morning I spent some quiet time in my room. I sat in lotus position at the end of my unmade bed. The sun bounced of the rumpled white bedding and danced around me. I flipped through a well worn copy of a photo book by one of my favorite photographers. I hadnt seen the book for ages and as I flipped through the glossy images I remembered...
I thought how these beautiful images had ignited a passion in me. I recalled how his poetic photos had given me a look into his soul and how by doing so I peered into my own.
And I found myself inspired to return to the love I had found waning. I spent some time this morning looking at the world through the lens of my heart as well as the camera. The photo above is the result.
Lesson learned : Like a long time relationship you need to remember what it is that made you fall in love in the beginning if you are to keep the romance alive.

Running on fumes

This is how much fuel my truck took today. At 108 a ltr it's a punch in the pocketbook. I love my truck but at times like this I miss old blue.

Late night printmaking

I have been a busy girl. Clean, purge, wash, purge some more. I am getting a little closer to my decluttering goal. Ahh I just need a little creative time to relax from all the hard work. If 3 a.m. Printmaking sounds weird to you then you don't know that many artists.
Last week I taught a gelatin monotype printmaking class and was pretty excited when a fellow artist shared her stash ( I know, I know, the purging thing). Some things never change. Hey! They were gifts it would have been rude not to accept. I do believe there is some potential in the new texture goodies. Below is one of the prints I made using both her texture and mine.

Ikea Monkey business

I have been working at cleaning and purging. Getting organized and less cluttered is one of my goals this year. I am working hard here... And when I get it all done... Maybe a trip to Ikea
Maybe some monkey spotting.
